The Ukrainian Navy's sole submarine, the "Zaporizhya", raised the St. Andrew's ensign and Russian Naval Jack flag in Sevastopol on Saturday, as it became part of the Russian Black Sea Fleet.

The "Zaporizhya" had been part of the Ukrainian Navy since 1997, having been commissioned into the Soviet Navy in 1970. It is metres (230 feet) in length, can travel at knots (30 km/h) submerged and has a submerged displacement of 2,471 tonnes.
